The talks and negotiations between Greece and Turkey concerning the Maritime delineation, Dispute water, and energy security had been continued since 25 Jan 2021 after they have stalled it since 2016. The Turkish announcement for the 61st exploratory talks with Greece came a week after the European Union expand the number of Turkish officials sanctioned over the country’s energy exploration in the disputed waters of the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

Turkish President Erdogan said that he is optimistic about this new era of negotiations. However, Greece entered with a low expectation to reach an agreement that doesn’t against the state’s sovereignty.
